Sainte-Marie-du-Mont is a must-see on your D-Day tour, because for many, it's Utah Beach. On June 6, 1944, the deserted site became part of history with the arrival of tens of thousands of liberating soldiers. The town's coastline boasts museums and commemorative sites. The village, nestled around the church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption in the hills two kilometers from the shore, has a few shops. Sainte-Marie, which is not lacking in charm, is very lively during commemorations, and can be reached very easily via the motorway, just a few minutes away.
