TOUR NEBOJŠA (НЕБОЈША КУЛА)
Petit Futé's opinion on TOUR NEBOJŠA (НЕБОЈША КУЛА)
Located at the foot of the Forteresse fortress near the Danube, this tower dating back to 1460 is the only well preserved medieval building. It was renovated and designed for visitors in 2011 thanks to donations from the Greek Government. Its multimedia space on the ground floor covers the history of the tower as it was once as a prison. The first floor is devoted to Rigas Feraios, the Greek poet and revolutionary who, imprisoned, died in the tower in 1798. The second level is devoted to the first Serbian uprising against the Turks and to the creation of the modern Serb state in the early th century. On the top floor, Belgrade's history was presented in the early decades of the th century and the process of transforming an oriental city into a Central European city.
