Flaine, which celebrated its 55th anniversary in 2024, was built by architect and designer Marcel Breuer. The resort has been awarded the Heritage of the 20th Century label. Conceived as a large urban-style complex - but with no car traffic for a ski-in/ski-out resort - on the southern slope of the Vallon de Flaine (1,600 m) facing the Platé desert (2,480 m), it opens onto the grandiose panorama of the Mont Blanc massif. The Flaine art center, at the heart of the resort, hosts exhibitions by contemporary artists and organizes workshops. The ski area offers 64 runs (139 with the Grand Massif), a secure freeride zone and a Nordic area.
