Carabane is a postcard island, with paradisiacal landscapes of white sandy beaches and wild coconut palms on the beach, and ruined colonial remains. This 60 km² island is that huge space on the map that seems unexploited, uninhabited, virgin. You feel good as soon as you disembark there, tasting its exotic atmosphere, strolling in this car-free village, talking with its inhabitants, contemplating a sunset, strolling on the river, escorted by the dolphins who live there. The Dakar-Ziguinchor ferry, which stops here on the way to and from the island, is a bit of a challenge to the quiet life of the island.
