About 50 km after Mbour, on the road to Kaolack, the village of Ndiosmone marks a junction with an asphalt road that descends to the south. A good hour is enough to reach the end of the road, at Ndangane, opposite what used to be a junction of the Sine or Saloum rivers. These two rivers are today fossilized. The further inland you go, the saltier the water. Their source on the Kaolack side is now dry and the only fresh water that mixes with their course is the rainfall of the winter.
