About 70 km from Dakar, it is a peaceful village, nestled on the cliffs of Cap de Nazé. To get there from the capital, take the road to Mbour and turn right at the village of Sindia. The place, charming, has a beautiful beach. Its name is associated with the Marian shrine of Notre-Dame-de-la-Délivrance which sees many Christians converge every year on pilgrimage. Popenguine is also known as the summer residence of the Senegalese president in office. But also for the fight of its women for the protection of nature. The locality is also home to a nature reserve, nearly 200 species of birds listed.
