Located some 200 km from Kang and 170 km from Gaborone, the town is above all, along with Orapa, one of the two major diamond sites in Botswana. It is even the most important site in the world in terms of value! Jwaneng has little tourist interest other than its diamond mine. Unlike the town of Orapa, which is inaccessible without an official permit, the mining town of Jwaneng remains open to travelers. There is also the interesting Cheetah Conservation Botswana project, one of whose study sites is the nearby Jwana Game Park. For the traveler, Jwaneng is also a possible stop on the Trans-Kalahari.
