The road from Nata to Kasane actually leads to Kazungula, which is the northeastern tip of Botswana. From this point, going east, one heads towards Zimbabwe and going north, one meets the Zambezi River and the Zambian border. To the west, the main asphalt road connects Kazungula and Kasane along the Chobe River. Because of its location, the settlement formed by Kasane and Kazungula is the most charming in Botswana. The two small towns are located on the banks of the beautiful Chobe River and their hills dominate the large floodplains. The larger of the two towns, Kasane, is the second largest tourist centre in the country after Maun. A few kilometres from the entrance to the Chobe National Park, it is the administrative centre of the Chobe region. Before entering the town, two roads separate: the road along the river leads to the town centre and the second road inland climbs to the plateau where Kasane airport and the residential area of the town are located. The latter road continues towards the national park and Sidudu Gate. Kasane is one of the only towns where you can walk around and easily find your way around the town centre. The few shopping malls, restaurants and shops are located close to each other on the main riverside road, President Avenue. Kazungula is Botswana's border town with Zimbabwe and Zambia, where the Chobe River flows into the Zambezi River.
