Travel Guide Nepalganj

East of Bardia, Nepalganj is the main town in the western Terai, and the gateway to Bardia National Park, with its own domestic airport. Nepalganj is also the hub for domestic flights to the mountain altiports of western Nepal. It is also a border post with India, 5 km south of the town. It's always hot here, and the humidity supports a large mosquito colony. The town has a high proportion of Indian Muslims, who took refuge here in the last century. Rickshaws and tongas, horse-drawn carts, are the main means of transport. The city, which is growing out of control, offers few points of interest, apart from the Bageshwari Mandir temple, which may be worth a visit.
