To the north of Budhanilkanta lies Shivapuri Park, created to safeguard Nepal's flora and fauna. This is one of the last wooded areas in the region, with mountain bike trails, hiking trails and rock-climbing courses. From Budhanilkanta monastery, it takes 1.5 hours to reach the top of the forest, where shrines and stone platforms sit. From October to April, it offers a grandiose view of the Himalayas: straight ahead is the quadruple summit of Ganesh Himal and, to its left, the pointed dome of Manaslu Himal Chuli, then Lamjung, and finally the Annapurna range. Admission Rs. 1,000 per person.
