Small town of Renfrew County in the Madawaska Valley, 45 minutes from Algonquin Park. Two points of interest should be noted: the station and the Linéaire linear circuit. The station is emblematic of Barry's Bay development. From 1890 until the 1930 s, the railway was the main mode of transportation between Montréal and Toronto for the transit of logs, wheat, beverages, soldiers and passengers. But in 1939, maritime transport became the main conveyor. Barry's Bay Station is one of the few original stations still visible in Ontario. It is located near Highway 60. The station was built in 1894 by J.-R. Booth. This line extended from the Ottawa Valley to Lake Huron. The station was reconvened by Canadian National in 1922 and served the village until its closure in the late 1960 s. Barry's Bay Municipality purchased the station in 1972. It has been restored and is home to the Tourist Information Office.Barry's Bay is the final step of the Opeongo Line Tour, a road developed in the th century to allow settlement between the villages of Castleford and Barry's Bay. You can start or finish your tour just off Barry Bay. The departure of the circuit is done near the provincial park of the Carson lake (the signs indicating the linear circuit Opeongo are displayed). Drive east on Highway 60 through Barry Bay, turn right on the Yantha Lake road and follow the small country road via Hopefield, Brudenell, Foymount, Cormac, Clontarf and Esmonde. Once arrived at Highway 41, take the south direction on the 132 and east towards Dacre, the Shamrock and Renfrew. In Renfrew, take the route from County 20 north to Chats Lake near Castleford. According to the Ottawa Valley Tourism Association, the tour takes approximately 150 km and takes approximately 2 hours to travel by car. But there are many places to see along the way, also planning a day. And don't forget to take your camera, some landscapes are really beautiful.
