The Kula Highway crosses the entire central part of the island. From Pukalani, it runs along the western side of Haleakala and ends in the Ulupakua plains. This road is much less famous than the one to Hana, because it is less lush, but it allows to appreciate the rural aspect of Maui, with its lavender fields, its vineyards, its herds of cows and its sublime botanical gardens. As a result, it is also less visited and more authentic, allowing you to meet and talk with locals at greater length. Many of them are natives of the island. The numerous viewpoints on the coast are also spectacular.
