Jacques Cartier was the first visitor to stop at Carleton on July 9, 1534 and exclaimed, "la baye de Chaleur! Following the famous dispersion, the Acadians came to settle in Carleton in 1766. Today, the seaside resort of Carleton-sur-Mer is mostly a stopping place, but don't hesitate to stay a few days because the place is full of good places to go, especially the microbrewery Le Naufrageur. Don't miss the storytelling evenings "La Petite Grève" at the foot of the lighthouse, presented 4 nights a week at 8pm (excluding Tuesday and Thursday), from mid-June to the end of August. Bring beach chairs and warm clothes for more comfort.
