The Emma Hotel is a true marvel, standing in the heights of San Antonio. Built in 1894 in the Second Empire style by Chicago architect August Maritzen - whose work can be found all over the U.S., but also in Canada and South Africa - this splendid building was for a long time a gigantic brewery, the Pearl's Brewhouse. Even if you don't have the opportunity to stay there, a visit to the lobby, café and bar is a tourist activity in itself. The standard rooms are stunningly elegant as well.
