Henderson is a small village stranded on the edge of the Atchafalaya Basin, the largest expanse of marshland associated with a river basin in the United States. In the summer, the atmosphere on weekends is particularly festive. People from the surrounding towns take their boats and gather here. They eat and drink (a lot, and all day), fish and dance. The place is exceptionally beautiful and a swamp tour on this gigantic basin is a must. There are small huts scattered in the trees or on platforms, where the locals come to relax, fish or hunt in peace.
