Haven of wildlife, Evengué Island is accessible from Omboué, about half an hour by pirogue. It is actually composed of two parts: the Petite and the Grande Evengué. On the Petite Evengué is the Fernan-Vaz Gorilla Project (www.gorillasgabon.org). The main objective of this organization is to save the orphaned gorillas of Gabon. To this end, the FGVP has built a rehabilitation centre on the island, which promotes ecotourism and conducts research on the gorillas. It is possible to visit the centre, with at least 48 hours notice. Entrance fee: about 20,000 FCFA per adult
