On the "cinnamon road", the same one that Francisco de Orellana followed in 1542 when he crossed the Andes in search of spices and gold, before discovering the Amazon River, the Papallacta lagoon, formed by the natural reserve of the Maspa River, stretches in the heart of a bucolic landscape. Many fishermen come here to fish for trout. The village has become famous for its natural springs and pools with healing properties (some of them up to 64°C!). Tourist facilities have gradually developed around the thermal baths. It is a pleasant and invigorating stopover after a trip to the Amazon.
