Machachi is located in the basin of the Guayllabamba river, in a valley surrounded by the volcanoes Atacazo, Pasochoa, Rumiñahui and Corazón at an altitude of 2945 m above sea level and with an Andean climate. Located 33 km south of Quito (1 hour by bus), this quiet town is only animated on Sunday mornings, when the inhabitants of the area meet at the market. A local market, where you don't see many tourists. Some people stop here before or after a trip to Cotopaxi National Park. Nearby is the Guítig spring, whose sparkling water is the most popular in the country. From here you can easily get to Saquisili, the Corazón volcano, Pasochoa, the Illinizas summit or the Quilotoa lagoon. In the area, beautiful haciendas open their doors to tourists.
