Located 8 km from Antigua, it is a small village of Kakchiquel origin, a Mayan ethnolinguistic group known for its "Brocado" weaving technique, sometimes requiring six months of work for the most impressive pieces. As such, San Antonio Aguas Calientes is known for its artisanal activity, which generates nearly 20% of its economy, according to INGUAT. The Mercado de Artesanías Kojsamäj junam, which is held every day in the Parque Central, is an example of this. A festival of colors, its stalls are overflowing with traditional clothing, rugs and blankets. Just take a few steps to see women at work, here and there.
