Búzios is the most famous seaside resort around Rio. It is a bit like the Brazilian Saint-Tropez. This comparison is not without historical reality, since Búzios became famous during the 1960s when Brigitte Bardot, then in full glory, spent a few weeks of vacation there with her then Brazilian fiancé. For Lio and the lovers of Pampelone, the comparison doesn't stop there. One can really see a resemblance between the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and the site of Búzios. The stones are perhaps a little less loaded with history, here, no Rompe-cul street, nor Sarrazine tower, but the decor is of a striking beauty. Originally a fishing port, this fashionable seaside resort is known for its romantic restaurants and lively nightlife. With a peninsula of 8 km extension, the twenty beaches are all very different. There is something for everyone: some beaches are rough and cool, suitable for surfing, others are calm and warm, for swimming. In summer and during the feriados (long weekends), the small resort (30,500 inhabitants) is invaded by Cariocas and tourists (many Argentines in Búzios) and the city increases tenfold! You have to like the crowds and the promiscuity, the prices soar and the available accommodations are rare.Búzios is an ideal place to rest, sunbathe, practice water sports or have a candlelight dinner around this cape that evokes Provence with its hilly bays.
