Fifty kilometres south of Lençoís d'Andarai, a little gem is worth a visit. Also founded during the diamond rush, the village of Igatu was home to tens of thousands of people before it was almost abandoned in the mid-20th century. In recent decades, neo-ruralists and foreigners have revived the abandoned houses along the cobbled lanes, sometimes built in the recesses of garimpos. Undeniably, life has taken over. An atmosphere of softness and nonchalance, some tired garimpeiros, children everywhere, a particularly appreciated stage.
