The town is steeped in history, having lived through the Hundred Years' War and the destruction of the Second World War, and has been called Mortain-Bocage for several years now, following the merger of the town with the communes of Bion, Notre-Dame-du-Touchet, Saint-Jean-du-Corail and Villechien. Today, this green holiday resort presents architectural treasures nestled nicely in its natural setting. The relief, very marked in this area of the Manche, has created superb natural spectacles, including the waterfalls of Mortain. On the heights, you can admire on a clear day the Mont Saint-Michel, more than 40 kilometres away.
