With 2 million inhabitants, the province of Kampong Cham is densely populated. The city extends over 3 kilometers on the right bank of the Mekong. It developed thanks to the cultivation of rubber trees, introduced by the French. Cotton and tobacco crops were also flourishing under the protectorate. Modernized by Prince Sihanouk in the 1960s, the city was distinguished by its factories, schools and flowered villas. The prosperity of that time is now a distant memory. Kampong Cham has kept some beautiful colonial houses, but it is mainly to discover the surrounding area that we go there.
