MARCHÉ

Kompong Thom isn't a very big town, but it's on the national highway, so it's a hub of trade. As a result, its market is very lively and well-stocked. The place is quite clean, and you'll find all the products of a general Southeast Asian market: on the food side, fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the neighboring villages, meat stalls and basins full of fish. Part of the market is devoted to second-hand clothes. As always, a great place to get up close and personal with the locals.
