9 miles north of Lancaster, at the end of Lititz Pike. Lititz was founded in 1756 by members of the Morave church, this current of Protestantism advocating religious tolerance and wishing to return to the fundamentals of the first Christians. Originally from Moravia in Central Europe (eastern part of the present Czech Republic), they appointed the village according to Lidice Castle in Bohemia. Paradoxically, the village grew around this unique religious community until 1850, when non-Moravians finally had the right to settle in the area. It is now a pretty little village, crossed by a main street lined with a church, restaurants and shops, from where sometimes a marked flag of Moravian star is still floated.
