Tin Akoff is located in the far north Sahelian Burkinabe. To achieve this, a 4x4 is preferable, even if it is possible to reach it by bush taxi at certain times of the year, accompanied by a very good guide. From Zigbéri, it is necessary to continue the Markoye trail northward to Beli. The track then turns west and joins the small village of Tin Akoff (also accessible from Oursi and Gorom-Gorom). It is on the banks of the Beli River, a tributary of Niger, whose waters are curiously coloured orange pink at certain times of the year (December in particular). Many herds of cattle come to drink on its banks. This same river feeds, through a set of small irrigation canals, dozens of vegetable gardens protected by braided branch enclosures along the Markoye or Kacham trail. Tin Akoff's small market is usually held on Wednesdays.
