The Lobi country offers both one of the most beautiful natural areas in Burkina and a fascinating cultural encounter, a moment of travel. Its large hills have beautiful, rural, but wild landscapes, marked by the clan lifestyle of the Lobi. The ethnic family Lobi, to be exact, has 7 people: the Lobi, the Birifor, the Djan, the Pougouli, the Thuni, the Gan (around Obiré) and the Dagara (in the region of Diébougou in particular). They share several common points, the most visible of which are their architecture in the fortress box and their animism. However, their languages are different. The Lobi, stricto sensu, are those who speak lobiri. Visiting this country with a local guide is a necessity, an indispensable bridge to meet these welcoming, fascinating and highly cherished peoples.Gaoua is a nice small town, with about 30 000 inhabitants, to the friendliness and a little mysterious. This uniqueness is probably the traditional warrior of the Lobi and Gan peoples who inhabit it. A fierce resistance to the conquest of the conquerors of Europe or Africa, the men walked there, a short time ago, the bow to the shoulder and the quiver flux around the waist, often called the Indian Indians in Africa. One of the survivances of this warrior past lies in the architecture of the surrounding villages, small unfathomable and impenetrable fortresses from outside. Gaoua was created by the Lobi, who, from Ghana, drove Les Gan to the west. The Lobi called their town Gan-Houo (Gan-Vera according to other sources), or the Route Road, which became by the Suite suite. His colonial past is tragic and bloody. In fact, French domination has gone through brutal colonization to respond to local resistance.Today, Gaoua has fortunately been won by a certain sweetness of life, while retaining its cultural uniqueness. It is one of the most charming cities in Burkina Faso, nestled in the middle of the hills, which dominates metres. It serves as a base for the traveller to visit the entire Lobi country. We advise you to visit the villages Lobi, to immerse yourself with culture and then to finish with Gaoua and the Museum of Du, to have a global image of this beautiful region. Two to three days are recommended to discover most of what the region has to offer.
