The welcome is always pleasant.

This small restaurant in the capital of Guernsey is a well-known address for the locals. Which, to be honest, is always a good sign. On the menu of this restaurant, which faces the port of Saint-Peter-Port, you'll find classic dishes that are always well prepared, from simple sandwiches to plates of shellfish, but also good dishes with Mediterranean, Italian and Portuguese influences. Because the chef, originally from the Madeira archipelago, likes to marry the flavors of his home with the products of Guernsey.

In the heart of the sumptuous Old Government House hotel, La Brasserie is a chic restaurant that is not out of place in the hotel's other facilities. Here, the atmosphere is relaxed and chic in a light-filled veranda with a lovely view of the peaceful private garden. All this in front of a wonderful French cuisine, always beautifully presented and very refined. We recommend, for the gourmets and the others, the desserts which are absolutely delicious.

Before the arrival of the banks and their services, all stores in Saint-Peter-Port must have looked like this: a takeaway area (a good option for enjoying a treat while strolling along the harbour on a sunny day), a seated area, with wood, teak and, of course, a rather cheap British atmosphere. Yet this is - by far - the best & chips in town. No more, no less. And if you've had enough of the eternal fish & French fries, other no less light options are available: burgers, nuggets, etc.

For a change from the traditional fish and chips, here's a nice address that has taken the place of the famous French address Le Petit Bistrot. In a colorful, cozy atmosphere, you sit around a rickshaw and enjoy street food with a spicy Bangladeshi twist! The dishes are simple but always good - the curries are to die for! -And above all, a unique offering on the archipelago: the perfect address for a quick, quality meal. To be washed down with a homemade gin and tonic, before or after your meal!

L'Octopus is a very popular restaurant in Guernsey's capital, and not just for its exceptional location facing the sea and Havelet Bay beach. Here, you can enjoy seafood all day long, of course, but also fine cuts of meat and elaborate snacks for a quick bite. This address is a sure bet, offering fantastic views of the islands of Herm, Jethou and Sark. Try it with a cocktail too!

Da Nello is a nice Italian restaurant where French is spoken and where the welcome is charming. The Italian classics (sometimes adapted or revisited) are nicely highlighted, such as the veal escalope with asparagus and cherry tomatoes or the fettuccine with Guernsey crabs (with olive oil, garlic, chili and parsley). Also on the menu are numerous seafood and grilled fish dishes and fine cuts of meat. For dessert, if it's on the menu, why not try the Campari gelato.

As on the other side of the Channel, the Indian gastronomy is very appreciated on the island of Guernsey. And this restaurant has been successful since it opened in 1989. In addition to the always smiling welcome, you will find on the menu all the great classics well known by the amateurs. Be careful though, because even if you limit the quantity of spices with the middle spicy dishes, they can turn out to be rather spicy. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially in the evening. It is also possible to buy your meal to go.

Pier 17, Seamus Duggan's restaurant, is one of the capital's best addresses. Located on the docks, close to the boats, this restaurant is almost naturally oriented towards fish and seafood specialties, but the menu also offers many meat dishes, always very well prepared. Fresh, seasonal vegetables complete the menu. Inside, the decor is very clean, even rather chic. Outside, two beautiful terraces allow you to enjoy the beautiful days.

Koi Koi is Guernsey's best address for Asian fusion cuisine. This recently opened dim sum & sushi bar offers a fine culinary experience in a unique setting, with a rooftop decked out in pink. In addition to a Japanese menu based on fresh produce, you can also enjoy original burgers, curries, fish or a fine piece of beef. And for those who'd rather settle for an excellent cocktail (with or without alcohol), the restaurant's bar is open from Tuesday to Saturday (5.30pm to 12.45am).

The hotel restaurant, Rosie Jacques Bistro, welcomes guests right on the waterfront. In addition to its beautiful view, the restaurant offers Mediterranean-influenced cuisine at excellent value for money. Portions are hearty and pizzas can be served all day long. There's a pleasant atmosphere on the terrace as soon as the weather warms up. It's also a good place for an aperitif.
