Saint-John is a tiny parish located due north, with a rocky coastline that shelters only a single pebble beach, bordered by a small spit of sand that is not very suitable for swimming, but is ideal for fishing. The beach is known as Bonne Nuit Bay. Legend has it that King Charles II said: "Good night, beautiful Jersey", as he embarked on an exile to France during the English Civil War. But the origin of the name is probably much older, since in the 12th century there was already a chapel called "Bono Nocte" above the bay. This shelter was frequented by pirates until the establishment of a guard post in 1736. Today, Saint-John is a village that seems a little withdrawn, out of time. Ideal as a resting point in the midst of long nature walks.
