44 km from St. Petersburg. On the northern coast of the Gulf of Finland, the town of Kuokkala, once on Finnish territory, has since the last war taken the name of Repine, a famous Russian historical painter of the second half of the 19th century. It is in this small seaside town that his property was located. Named Les Pénates, in the 1900s it was home to many members of the intelligentsia of the time. Répine, who spent thirty years of his life there, is buried in the park of the property. The Penates estate now houses a museum attached to the Academy of Fine Arts. A suburban train connects the station of Finland to Repino, about 30 km from St. Petersburg, in 45 min and for 85 RUB.
