On this island, visible from the village of Lamlach (Arran), there was once a Christian monastery. The Norwegian king Haakon IV cast off in 1263 and discovered in a cave the relics of Saint Molaise, a hermit from the 7th century. Viking inscriptions are still visible there. The mystical vocation of the island continues today. It now hosts a Buddhist community and the Mandala Garden of a spiritual retreat center. In the summer, it is possible to come for a day for a spiritual retreat or to hike. It can be reached by ferry by first passing through the island of Arran and taking the ferry at Lamlash Pier.
