Dunoon is not strictly speaking within the boundaries of Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park. However, at only 7 km from its border, it is one of the main gateways from the Glasgow metropolitan area, along with Balloch. It is also the largest town on the Cowal Peninsula. A seaside resort, it was particularly developed during the Victorian era as a middle-class resort. You can even sunbathe on the beach at Lunderston Bay. Located on the Firth of Clyde, it offers superb landscapes, notably those of the Argyll Forest Park, or the very photogenic lighthouse of Cloch Point.
