At the tip of Loch Goil, this village nestled in beautiful countryside is an ideal base for exploring the Cowal Peninsula. Ten kilometers south of the village, on the western shore of the loch, stands Carrick Castle, a 12th century tower that served as a royal hunting residence. It is not possible to enter it, but some nice pictures are possible. Some parts of the film Good Kisses from Russia (Terence Young, 1963) were shot in the area. The wildlife of the area is also incredibly rich, you can see: red squirrels, pine marten, otters, deer and badgers which are common.
