The small village of Thornhill is nestled in the heart of the Dumfries & Galloway hills. It is a popular destination for Drumlanrig Castle, a lovely castle a few miles north. It is also a great place for outdoor sports, with many hiking trails and a beautiful golf course. The site is also very popular with fishermen. Enjoy the surrounding area: Morton Castle, the small hamlet of Durisdeer, nestled at the foot of the Lowther Hills, or the Museum of Lead Mining, located in the picturesque village of Wanlockhead, at 461 m above sea level, and allowing you to take an underground trip in a mine (www.leadminingmuseum.co.uk).
