This small port on the mouth of the River Tweed marks the much talked about border between England and Scotland. Its Elizabethan ramparts and its castle bear witness to the sieges suffered by this town over the centuries. Berwick-upon-Tweed has a very rich architectural and cultural heritage: Berwick Barracks (museum and art gallery, museum of the Scottish borders), the three bridges, one of which was built by Robert Stevenson, the town hall (you can visit the old courtroom and the dungeons, including the famous "drunken cell"). It is also a site where it is good to walk: beaches, several hiking trails..
