This wine-growing village lies at the foot of the Sonnenglanz hillside. Known as Beblenheim since the 10th century, it belonged to the Counts of Éguisheim, Ferrette, Horbourg and the Counts of Wurtemberg. Jean Macé (1815-1894), the instigator of secular public schools, lived here from 1852 to 1872. It was in Beblenheim that he founded (in 1863) the popular library movement. A monument has been erected in his memory in the village. Discover a 15th-century Gothic fountain, half-timbered houses (16th to 19th centuries) and 8 tombstones dedicated to the notables who made Beblenheim proud.
