Another fortified town in the area with a defensive structure that has kept its magnificent gate and semicircular watchtowers, dating from the 13th century, is the Puerta Sur (South Gate). Not far away, the beautiful Nuestra Señora de la Asunción church is worth a visit for its Romanesque portal and the magnificent sixteenth century altarpiece that it houses. The village's water mill is also still in operation (next to the mill you will also find an excellent homemade pastry shop). In the Casa Palacio del Arco, an amber interpretation centre displays fossils found in the region's deposits.
