Museum installed in the building of the old train station of Casco Viejo, exhibits many relics tracing the history of Vizcaya
Housed in the building of the former Casco Viejo railway station, which has been completely renovated and extended, the Archaeology Museum is accessible by the lift on Calle Prim. On two floors, it exhibits numerous remains that allow us to retrace the history of Bizkaia from Prehistory to the Middle Ages, through funerary stelae from the Iron Age or ceramic objects from the Roman period. The jewel of the museum is the wreck of Urbieta, a 12-metre-long 15th-century Basque pinasse, which was discovered in 1998 in the Ría de Gernika.
