Located on the other side of the mouth of Guernica, Mundaka is world famous for surfing (regular stage of the World Championship Tour). The village, with a population of 2,000, has a tiny harbour with a dyke overlooking the majestic mouth of Guernica, with its beautiful waves breaking slowly. In the centre, the streets are so narrow that some of them are connected by passageways. The fishermen's houses blend in well with the houses with coats of arms. From the atalaya (watchtower), one can appreciate the grandeur of the waves of the Cantabrian Sea, which have conquered surfing fans, and the small island of Izaro
