At the foot of the Otsondo pass, Urdazubi is a small medieval village of 400 inhabitants. Its historic centre is home to beautiful houses with coats of arms, but also the San Salvador monastery. Erected in the 9th century, the building was the victim of two large fires that took away its 9,000-book library. Nowadays it serves as a parish church. From here you can visit the prehistoric caves of Ikaburu, a natural excavation with traces of Magdalenian drawings. Discovered at the beginning of the 19th century and used as a refuge during the War of Independence, it was not until 1965 that they became a tourist attraction.
