The town is located near the Galitch salt mines. Its history begins with that of the Church of the Ascension of Christ, whose pyramidal roof reaches 50 m and around which a monastery developed. This monastery soon had its salt mines, its windmills, its fields and meadows and its workers which favoured the birth, next to it, of a village of craftsmen. The buildings that housed the taverns are a well-preserved example of the provincial architecture of the region, and in the distance stands the bell tower of the Cathedral of the Nativity (17th century).
