Situated in the Dee Valley, Llangollen was once a health resort, frequented by rheumatists and gout sufferers. And as everything ends in song in Wales, it's here that one of the country's most popular Celtic festivals, the International Eisteddfod, takes place, attracting crowds of music-loving visitors. During the festival, the population reaches 12,000 (3,500 the rest of the year). The town has just two main streets, with pubs, tearooms, restaurants and numerous stores. The Town Bridge, dating from the 14th century, gives this bustling little town a look you'll never want to leave.
