In the Clwyd valley, Ruthin, once an important administrative and trading town, has retained its medieval features, with St. Peter's Square in the center and narrow cobbled streets lined with well-preserved houses. To the north of the square is the Saint-Pierre church, founded in 1310 and renowned for its 16th-century carved oak roof. To the south of the square stands The Manor Courthouse, built in 1401.On market days, the town is swamped with livestock and takes on the allure of yesteryear. The town is also famous for "Maen Huail", a stone where, according to legend, Huail was beheaded by his rival King Arthur.
