Amlwch is the most northerly town in Wales. There's no beach here, only impressive cliffs battered by wind and waves. Near this small fishing village lies Parys Mountain (Mynydd Parys): the world's largest copper mine! The ore has been used for thousands of years, first by the Celtic tribes of Wales, then by the Romans. You can get there by taking the path from the parking lot on the B5111, 2 km south of the town. It's a change of scenery to get lost here, and the "end of the world" feel of the north of the country is soothing. Here you can discover both nature and the country's mining past.
