The north of the Llyn Peninsula is much less populated than the south. Of the few small villages on the coast, Nefyn (population 2,600) is the largest. The two adjacent villages, Morfa Nefyn and Porth Dinllaen, missed their moment of glory in 1839, when they lost the competition to be the ferry terminus to Ireland, but are no less pleasant for it.The long beach of Porth Dinllaen has been spared and is a pleasant place to stroll. A break at the Ty Coch Inn, facing the sea, is highly recommended. This pub, the best known in the area, is decorated with boats and nets on the ceiling. The bar serves pickled eggs. In short, time passes slowly in this hamlet preserved from the modern world. Getting there is no mean feat, as you have to cross the golf course on the cliffs or follow the beach from Morfa Nefyn.
