It's the largest town in the north of the country (population 15,000), famous for its 2 bridges that cross the Menai Strait and link the land to the Isle of Anglesey: the Menai Suspension Bridge and Britannia Bridge. The 6th-century cathedral, with its fine architecture, is one of the city's focal points. A university town, it is also a bastion of Welsh nationalism, which can cause some tension with the predominantly English student population. On the sightseeing front, it's time for a visit to the Gwynedd Museum & Art Gallery. This museum traces the history and culture of North Wales. It features a collection of traditional furniture and costumes.
