Newport, a village very close to a pleasant beach, is situated on the banks of the Nyfer estuary, where you can enjoy some beautiful walks. Every August, the town hosts an unusual festival called "Beating the Bounds". This ancient tradition reminded parishioners of the location of the village boundaries. Today, it's a symbolic ceremony, during which the mayor on horseback and the public follow Newport's boundaries. Not to be missed is the Carreg Coetan Arthur Burial Chamber; dating from the Neolithic era, with one large stone supported by four others, located in the Nyfer Valley.Homonymous cities. Not to be confused with the town of the same name, next to Cardiff.
