This old town, built around the castle, was an important trading port in medieval times. Despite its relatively sophisticated architecture, it is of little interest. Castle Street is the most important street, from where a path leads up to the castle, which consists of a few 13th-century ruins. The Riverside Market (Monday to Saturday - Farmers Market on Fridays) and the Market Street shopping street are worth a stroll, with its many small craft stores... By train, there are direct services from Newport, Cardiff and Swansea.
