Largest town in West Wales, twinned with Lesneven in Brittany, and capital of the county of Carmarthenshire. The atmosphere is Welsh but can sometimes be a little gloomy, with 60 pubs for 20,000 inhabitants. Legend has it that this is the birthplace of the druid Merlin the Enchanter (Myrddin in Welsh). By train, Carmarthen is on the West Wales Line, which runs from Swansea to Fishguard, Milford Haven and Pembroke. Trains to Swansea every 30 min. Same for Pembroke Dock, via Whitland, Tenby and Milford Haven. Two daily departures to Fishguard. Some trains to London. The world's largest one-piece greenhouse! Located in the Botanic Gardens, it was designed by the famous British architect Sir Norman Foster. This single-panel greenhouse is 95 metres long and 55 metres wide. Its gently curving dome is formed by 785 glass panels that partially sink into the ground, giving the impression of emerging from the earth. A labyrinth and a Japanese garden are also part of this pleasantly colorful walk around some of the rarest plants on the planet.
