In the heart of the Maritime Quarter, this small, volunteer-run theater welcomes semi-professional troupes and offers a varied program. In fact, if you're thinking of moving to Swansea for a while, it's easy to join the team of volunteers and discover the world of theater. On average, 15,000 visitors a year come to see the shows. TALIESIN ARTS CENTRE

Swansea's most avant-garde stage, in the heart of the university's Singleton campus. Open since 1984, it has been offering a wide-ranging program for over thirty years, with some fifty different live performances a year. There's a choice of theater, dance, musical performances, cinema (art-house oriented but not exclusively) and an art gallery (with an average of ten exhibitions a year). GRAND THEATRE

This renowned theater opened in July 1897, designed by Newcastle architect William Hope. It has two stages: the larger one is reserved for light plays and regularly hosts the Welsh National Opera. The other, smaller stage can accommodate up to 100 people, and is a place for artists to express themselves on their own terms. On their website, you'll find the fall/winter or spring/summer season's program, depending on the season, with plenty of variety, ideal for families.
